With the impendence of the BJJ Worlds — the event that kicks off the scorekeeping for a new season, — the IBJJF has published its list of champions for the 2017/2018 season concerning male and female black-belts, teams.
Erberth Santos (Esquadrão de Jiu-Jitsu Brasileiro) topped the men’s rankings. Following a season where he lost the lead in the last tournament to Leandro Lo (NS Brotherhood), this time Erberth amassed 1,434 points, trailed by Lo’s 1,305 and Lucas “Hulk” Barbosa’s (Atos) 1,175.5. Noteworthy about this list is the rise of non-Brazilians, with three names showing up in the top 10: Keenan Cornelius, Adam Wardzinski and Gianni Grippo.
