Caio Terra has a dangerous test on his hands when he faces Marcelo Cohen for the vacant Fight To Win Pro no-gi flyweight title on Dec. 8 in San Jose, CA.
The bout is serving as one of the headliners on an epic card planned for Fight To Win Pro 57 and pits the 11-time world champion Terra, who is also the current F2W Pro 135lb gi titleholder, against Cohen, a Marcelo Saporito black belt. Cohen has extensive experience and solid competition accolades, including first-place finishes at 2016 No-Gi Pans and 2017 American Nationals.
He had this to say about his upcoming match with the legendary Terra: “I’m going into this fight ready and confident. I know I’m the clear underdog here and that only motivates me more. It is an honor to have the opportunity to compete against a legend in jiu-jitsu, but I’m going into this match like every other one. No expectations, just go out there and do the best I can and put on a show“.
As Cohen stated above, there is no doubt that Terra is the favorite: It’s a no-gi match, and Terra is a nine-time no-gi world champion. But Terra himself remains cautious, knowing that a single mistake is all that is necessary for someone like Cohen to score the upset: “For those that don’t know, Marcelo is a guy who has been working hard for some time and picking up great wins. Every year his jiu-jitsu gets better and better as he tests himself against the best in the world. I’m excited for this match, and for anyone that loves jiu-jitsu, this should be a great one to watch!”.
