KASAI Elite Grappling Championships (KASAI) has filled the final spot in its 155lb World Lightweight Championship tournament at KASAI Pro with the signing of highly touted jiu-jitsu prospect Renato Canuto.
A second-generation Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt under his father, Valdir, Canuto represents Robert Drysdale and Rodrigo Cavaca’s Zenith JJ team when taking part in national and international events.
As a competitor, Canuto holds the distinction of winning dual gi and no-gi IBJJF World Championships at brown belt in 2016. Upon earning his black belt, the dynamic 21-year-old from São Paulo, Brazil, earned the IBJJF American Nationals Championship at lightweight earlier this year.
“In just a short time, this kid had developed a unique style that is flush with submission attempts and aggressive movement for all to enjoy. He also has an impressive list of accomplishments to boot”, – said Rolles Gracie, KASAI President.
Names confirmed for the event’s championship tournament include Garry Tonon, Mansher Khera, Gianni Grippo, Celso Vinicius, AJ Agazarm, “Junny” Ocascio, and Enrico Cocco.
